September 2, 2025
The September meeting marked our first as official members of the Nacogdoches Chamber of Commerce, and everything went quite well! I’m happy to report that the Chamber officials have been incredibly accommodating. We also had a great turnout—thank you to everyone who attended!
We welcomed two visitors, both of whom expressed interest in joining the club:
• Keith Dean, a former member many of us remember as RG and Ouida’s son.
• Cathy Randles, a new face to the club and an enthusiastic photographer who just returned from a photo safari in Kenya.
Keith and Cathy will be wonderful additions to our club. If you didn’t get a chance to meet them this time, be sure to introduce yourself at the next meeting!
Program
I gave a presentation on photography projects and truly appreciated everyone’s engagement. For those who couldn’t attend, here’s a quick summary:
A photography project is defined by the intention to create a cohesive group of images centered around a theme or personal interest. We discussed several reasons to pursue projects, and many of you shared our own projects. I hope something from our discussion inspires you to start a project of your own—I’m still working on mine!
October SAE: “Prints and Frames”
Next month’s SAE is titled Prints and Frames. Members will showcase printed and displayed photographs. So far, we have three volunteers—please let me know asap if you’d like to participate! Just bring one or more prints and be ready to share a bit about your printing, matting, and/or framing process. I’d especially love to see prints on canvas or metal, but all formats are welcome.
Monthly Photo Challenge: Minimalism
Our October challenge theme is Minimalism, continuing from our August meeting.
Photos must be taken between August 5 and October 7. Please send your entries to Becky by 11:00 a.m. on the day of the meeting.
Honoring Tom Willis
We’re currently collecting donations for a charitable contribution in memory of Tom Willis. If you’d like to donate, please contact Michelle Eagen at eagenm@gmail.com. We’ll share more details once everything finalized.
Officer Elections in November
Looking ahead, we’ll be electing our 2026 slate of officers in November.
We know for sure that the President and Vice President positions will need to be filled, so please consider stepping up and throwing your name in the hat!
Save the Date
Our next meeting is October 7—mark your calendar!
As always, your presence makes the club stronger. See you then!
