April 1, 2025
Our April meeting was very interesting. We tried a new approach to SAE and, despite a technology glitch, it seemed to go very well. Robert gave us a brief, but very informative presentation on composition, Tom showed us some absolutely beautiful photos that demonstrated how to get more creative with our post processing, Jay Schwartz (a brand new member) was kind enough to share some of his travel photos that captured our dependency on cell phones, and I showed some of my focus stacking macro pictures and answered questions about that technique. Here is a link to the Adobe site on focus stacking that I promised you (click here).
Our monthly challenge was “odd numbers,” and the winning photo was submitted by Tom Willis. I was honored to share second place with Michelle. Be sure to check out our Facebook page to see the submissions. Tom chose “Spring” as our topic for the May challenge. For all you literal minded people like me, that would be the season and not actual pictures of springs.
The deadline for submitting Gallery Show entries is approaching fast. Be sure to get those to Susan by April 21st. The submission guidelines can be found under the announcements tab on the web page, or just click here. Remember that we also have that handy downsizing button on the web page. To go directly there click here. If you are sitting on the fence about submitting images to the show, I strongly encourage you to give it a try. The more images submitted, the better the show. Also, it is pretty neat to see a photograph you took hanging on the wall at the Cole Center.
We welcomed two new members into the club this month, Jay and Ellen Schwartz. If you haven’t already introduced yourself, be sure to do so at the next meeting.
Our next meeting is May 6 at 6:00. As always we will be meeting at the Ina Brundrett Conservation Center located in the SFA Pineywoods Native Plant Center on Raguet Street. Larry Donham will be doing a presentation comparing Affinity Photo to Adobe products. This should be of interest to all of us who are curious about alternate approaches to processing and storing photos.
Looking forward to seeing all of you there!
